Blog Response #4: Letting Go

Do you see connections between inquiry learning, instructional technology and great teaching?

Great teaching helps to get information across the students. After great teaching of lessons then leads to inquiry learning.  Inquiry learning allows students to learn about ideas for themselves.  Instructional technology is a concept of using technology items to incorporate the lessons that need to be covered by the teacher.  Great teaching and instructional technology both need to lead to inquiry learning by the students.

I agree that good teaching should lead to inqury. Students also need to know how to take what they learn to the next step.

Yes, I do think there is a connection between inquiry learning, instructional technology, and great teaching. Great teaching incorporates inquiry learning and instructional technology (great teaching can happen without those, too though!). Using technology is a good way for students to work in an inquiry based manner; however, I do think that the teacher needs to build the foundational skills for using technology and inquiry based learning if students do not already have them.
